Whooping Cranes Photography Tour

2 Full Days of Whooping Cranes Photography in Rockport, Texas

Event Overview:

This exclusive workshop, limited to just 4 photographers, offers an exceptional opportunity to capture the majestic Whooping Crane and other coastal birdlife near Rockport, TX. Set against the scenic backdrop of the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), the experience is ideal for photographers of all levels seeking memorable moments along the South Texas coastline.


Expected Wildlife:

The primary focus is the endangered Whooping Crane—the tallest bird in North America. With only 836 individuals worldwide as of 2022, the healthiest and largest migratory flock winters at ANWR, making this location the top destination for observing and photographing the species. Additional sightings may include pelicans, herons, egrets, oystercatchers, osprey, and more.


Workshop Activities:

The day begins before sunrise to catch the cranes in early morning light. Departing from Sea Gun Marina, participants will journey through Aransas Bay, past Goose Island State Park, and into the heart of the refuge via the Intracoastal Waterway and San Antonio Bay. The boat remains fully flexible to your interests—stop and linger wherever the photographic opportunities arise, with full guidance and support throughout the tour.

Alberta Owls Workshop

3 Full Days of Owl & Wildlife Photography in the Alberta Canada

Event Overview:

This exclusive workshop, limited to 4 photographers, offers hands-on wildlife photography instruction and insights into Alberta’s central western forests. Participants will receive personalized guidance from expert leaders in a small group setting.


Expected Wildlife:

Anticipated sightings include Great Gray Owl, Northern Hawk Owl, Barred Owl, and Boreal Owl. Other wildlife may include magpies, jays, chickadees, elk, coyotes, foxes, weasels, snowshoe hares, and deer.


Workshop Activities:

The group will explore Alberta’s backroads and secondary highways in pursuit of the Great Gray Owl. Time will be spent scanning the forest for birds perched in trees or on posts. Once spotted, participants will carefully exit the vehicle for ample photography time. Quiet walks along gravel roads will also be part of the experience during morning and afternoon sessions.

South Texas Birds & Wildlife Workshop

3 Full Days of Songbird & Raptor Photography in the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas.  

Event Overview:

Limited to just 6 photographers, this workshop at South Texas’s Laguna Seca Ranch offers an immersive experience in the sub-tropical habitat of the Rio Grande Valley. Led by Wayne Williams, participants will receive one-on-one instruction in wildlife photography and insight into local species.


Expected Wildlife:

Notable bird species include Painted Bunting, Green Jay, Northern Cardinal, Pyrrhuloxia, Golden-fronted and Ladder-backed Woodpeckers, Great Kiskadee, and various hawks, doves, warblers, and orioles. Other sightings may include vultures, pelicans, and wild turkeys.


Workshop Venue:

Spanning 700 acres of native brushland, Laguna Seca Ranch has been dedicated to high-quality wildlife photography since 2002. The ranch continually enhances its environment to benefit both wildlife and photographers, showcasing the natural beauty of South Texas.
